Our Philosophy

Leigh Community Preschool is a not-for-profit community preschool catering for children aged 6 months to school aged. Located in beautiful Leigh, we have a strong connection to our local primary school, community and natural environment. We value joy, kotahitanga, aroha, empathy and social justice.

  • Tamariki

Tamariki are regarded as unique, competent and confident learners and a strong sense of belonging, underpinned by aroha, is fostered.

  • Whānau

Whānau are recognised and embraced as active and respected participants within our learning community. Leigh Community Preschool aims to create an environment where whānau feel they are listened to and cared for.

  • Kaiako

Kaiako are committed to life-long learning. All kaiako are valued for the kete of knowledge they each bring to Leigh Community Preschool. Their interactions with tamariki and whānau are built on kindness, aroha, empathy and respect.

  • Community

The wider Leigh community is key to the relationships we establish and nurture with those who live and work there. We value being seen and heard through actively engaging in and contributing to community events and activities.

  • Enviornment

Our natural environment and diverse, rural community inspire us to create beautiful and meaningful settings for teaching and learning.
