Our Philosophy at Leigh Community Preschool

We aim to treat each unique child with care and respect to grow their self esteem and confidence.

Our Mission

Leigh Community Preschool is a ‘one of a kind’ non for profit community run preschool catering for children aged 6 months to 5 years. Located in beautiful Leigh, we have a strong connection to our local school, community and natural environment. We offer a play based learning programme based on the guidelines of Te Whāriki which fosters our children’s independence and allows them to grow and learn in their own unique and individual way. Our children are nurtured by a highly qualified and experienced teaching team who are committed to upholding Te Ao Maori (Maori world views), quality teaching, learning and fun!

We work with families to grow children who are happy, independent and secure in themselves. We do this by nurturing our children and their learning through respectful and reflective practice, creative inquiry and engaging with our unique natural environment.

Our Core Values

Respectful

We believe in showing thoughtful awareness in our interactions and communication with all people and the environment.

Creative Inquiry

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Fun-loving

We are committed to creating an environment where children have the freedom and security to be themselves and where happiness and fun are valued.

Reflective practice

We are committed to ensuring that there is consideration, planning and review supporting children’s explorative play, with a comprehensive understanding and demonstration of best practice.
